But the people didn't know the fear of hunger, homelessness, unemployment or futurelessness of their children. And most of the problems they solved with overthrow their government in 1989. @legorret1 And 1990 and 91 we had real Democracy, the poeople told what to do... and now? 1989 the people where on the street to fight for democracy... and imagine, the police allowed it! Today you are not allowed to demonstrate near a G8-meeting, the parlament or other things the power don't want you to be again. They shoot as us water, rubber and gas!!! So thats the holy democracy the GDR citizens fight for?!

1990 and 91 the people ask questions and get the truth, and today?!

@bummwummn DDR was a mistake of history ! During Yalta conference the american president was too old and let the USSR to steal half of Europe ! Stalin did not respect the treaty ! it was not on the programs to make another country but just to occupied zone. Without world war 1 and 2 Europe would be the stronger continent now. War is shit !

@Vamutus only 22% of formal GDR Citizens feel them self now as a full Citizen of the BRD (West-Germany), better; 25% of the formal GDR Citizens want the wall back and 70% feel them self as a East German or GDR Citizen... so next time, read and research before posting shit... and yes i'm born in GDR and so my parents and grandparents... and they all want their Country back!
