Steam Operation did return for their 20th Anniversary. But it was a one day only event.

Also to note..they purchased another steam locomotive to restore for show. It will be operational and they hope too operate them for polar express operations and maybe some special steam runs.

Where did you hear this, and was it the Shay? Also why would they spend money on restoring a different one, when the two they have are in great condition

Its actually 230,000. And they never had the money. Why do you think it was sold...the other people couldnt afford it, and the only way to survive was to rid of steam. They dont pocket the money. Thats such an ignorant response. I love steam and hate to see it go its just that everyone needs to understand. If you would like I could message you a response from an email to a Xanterra employee. Im not trying to be an asshole to you I just want you to feel ok about it.

So I'm guess 230,000 ridership at $70 for Coach Class, and that's the cheapest here's the amount $16,100,000. No, I don't think that's enough to keep steam going, the Cumbres and Toltec is going and they only made $3 million and they are afloat, with a little outside help that probably only est $1 or 2 million a year
