@negadon80 I will always prefer to make great music rather than to be a great guitar player. Of course I'd prefer both, but if I'd have to chose, I'd prefer to write great music.

@knikk77 Most likely just the combination of his amp being turned up so damn loud and an early Ibanez tube screamer. I think pre TS-9 maybe. I think I read somewhere that he used one at one point in time but the Butler was the main one.

You know, its one thing to be a great guitar player, but its another thing to be great and make great music. Eric johnson is both.Unfortunately, there are alot of great guitarists out there but they dont make great music.You need both.
