Conditions were perfect for some nice vapor cones. The pilot on this one decided to just give the crowd what they wanted...high speed passes and lots of vapor! Awesome!

  • Thanks for posting, and linking to my video. You obviously had more to record with than an iPhone :).

Great stuff. And the F-18 was a highlight (and the jet powered glider !?!)

  • Ya, had a video camera. I did record a little of the jet powered glider but not much. After going to so many shows over the years, seeing the same acts over and over again get kind of boring. But somehow I never get bored seeing Fighter jets!

  • I was there, i talked to a F-15 crew chief about the thunderbirds not being at the port its self. the reason behind it is they need more room then the blue angles do with how many planes and equipment they have. the port does not have the room. I went to both shows. yesterday's and today's. it was awesome. the clouds did help with the hornets vapor cones, but there was no sonic boom, people keep getting a sonic boom confused with the vapor cones at almost mach 1.

  • Hey thanks for the information...I did not know that! Yes, it is funny how people get sonic boom confused with vapor cones. lol Thats ok, we are here to set them on the right path ;)

  • great filming, thanks for the video

  • I remerber seeing the F-18 flying around i was at the starbucks right next to the Win Co it was awesome.

  • I was there that day, and I will never forget it! I will definately will be going to almost every annual airshow in Hillsboro from now on.

  • lucky you. wish i lived next to a base. i live almost 30 miles away from the OANG base.

  • except for certain areas in the U.S. like Navy/Air Force testing bases in the middle of nowwhere.. I use to live by Edwards AFB and there was sonic booms over my house daily. It may have shattered glass at the altitude he was flying but otherwise it wont. It will just make a loud boom.

  • ah interesting, would make sense. Thanks for the find on that!

  • yea, if he had gone super sonic, every one's ears and all glass with in about 1-5 miles would have shattered from the sonic vibrations caused by the plane piercing the sound barrier. FAA regulations have banned it for a long time now.

  • Found the answer on the DOD application for requests for demonstration flights. The Blue Angels require 6000ft of runway. The Thunderbirds require 7000ft of runway. Hillsboro is 6600.
