  • This loco is based on an article in Model Railways magazine from September 1977. Loco called Sir William. I started to build one too in 1986- got as far as making the chassis as shown here. Havent got round to making the body yet.

  • @ogwen040

thats great that you built one from the original article,

i only realised when i saw the article reproduced recently in the nov edition of 16 mm today ( issue 134 ), +on the strength of that this engine featured in the february edition.

can you post a film of your chassis ?? ( running or not ) as it would be great to see another one,

    many thanks

  • That 'locomotive' creates heck loads of steam.

  • @keykeykay

it was about minus 5 !!

  • that is one of the more unusual engines I've seen!

  • @matthewpeter

  • Poetry in motion. The speed is and torque are what you want, hard to get from a small engine. I have been thinking about building something just like this. I like it.

  • thats alot of steam and noise!

  • @steamlord111 will do i may use a Mamod minor like this , a TE1A or even MSS spare parts im not sure just exploring all the possibility's before i launch into anything (and until i have the money thanks for all your help

  • @KVSRmanager you could use a faceplate + cylinder from a mamod traction engine or steam wagon ( giving you a built in reverser )

let us know how you go on

  • @steamlord111 yeah it. does I expect you could fashion a gearbox that would do reverse I'm currently just exploring the possibility of scratch building - something
