The Myasishchev M-4 Molot (Russian: Молот (Hammer), NATO reporting name Bison, USAF code 'Type 37') is a four-engined strategic bomber, designed by Vladimir Myasishchev and manufactured by the Soviet Union in the 1950s to provide a bomber capable of attacking targets in North America. The Myasishchev design bureau was formed to build such a bomber.
Interesting...the British version of this documentary claims it went half of its intended 15,000 mile range yet here an American version claims it went half of its 10,000 mile range. Unless I completely misheard. Hmmmm....

@redneck10ivan I didn't know that about Khrushchev & Gorbachev.
I remember Yuri Andropov didn't live long as Premier. Yes I'm that old.

@DaddyOD13 Stalin sadist and Khrushchev was a capitalist, was the most normal Andropov, Gorbachev was a Mason.

@redneck10ivan I liked Khrushchev, he had so much spirit.
And he wasn't the mass murderer Stalin was... I think.
I've always liked these old Soviet planes also.
This one may not have done what they wanted it to,
but it was a beautiful plane.
Russians still make many of the best.
But I really love the ones from the Cold War era.

@JetMechMA Design Bureau Myasishchev existed at Stalene. later Khrushchev it disbanded. Khrushchev hated Stalin, and so peculiar vengeance. KB Myasishchev replaced by Tupolev..
