20070816 MBTA Green Line pulling into Government Center stop

Boston Massachusetts, August 16, 2007 The MBTA Green Line pulls into the Government Center stop in Boston Massachusetts.

I am quite fond of trains and the railroad; perhaps it is a childhood dynamic of growing up in Westminster, MD and being fascinated with the Western Maryland Railroad traveling through the center of town.

On a recent trip to Boston we used the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority public transportation system extensively. Our experience, albeit only a week, was that it was safe, efficient and got us where we wanted to go with relatively ease. Considering my fascination with trains, using the Boston subway system greatly added to the sense of adventure and exploration for what was a wonderful week in Boston.

The Boston subway, like many contemporary transit systems, no longer uses tokens, but rather, in the case of the Boston system, uses and electronic card called, "The Charlie Card." And yes, we sang "The Charlie on the MBTA Song" a great deal.

they're nice, but the seats are way too hard. hurts my ass riding to gov't ctr from wonderland!
