1977 Funk- Rock thang Ernie burning that solo on 'Go for your guns", I remember listening to the album when it dropped in the Spring of 1977, 11 years old and my next door neighbor Ms. Joyce was playing the album during a Sunshower and I listened sitting on her porch to 'livin in the life/go for your guns" and I said isn't that one song Ms. Joyce, she pointed out the album and said Baby, those are two different songs. Being 11 years old at the time I thought it was stupid to have the same beat for two songs, well it's my tribute to sitting on the porch of Ms. Joyce's house and listening to good music. And also the memory of the Philadelphia 76 ers choking the NBA Finals to the Portland Trailblazers after going up 2-0, well at least I had the summer of 1977, summer school, the Boys Club , nice looking girls, riding my banana bikes ,and hanging out to soothe my pain.

  • Grown folk music!!!! You gotta be 45 to 50 to appreciate this music......hip hop, rap, and the stuff they are calling r&b can't hold a candle to this old school! Memories of my old hood and kickin it on the porch or in the park jammin' to this on the turntable! "And if you think it's easy it's only cuz you ain't me and I ain't you....check out the difference between the two!"

  • I bought all Isley albums. Didn't have to listen to one track. I bought their albums; sounds unheard.

  • @willsasdor Yeah, cause the little ones don't know..

  • Este tema representa una inolvidable época para mí. Los mejores tiempos que pasé en mi vida fueron en esta época. Buenos recuerdos, ya que mi ocupación en esa época era poner música para fiestas y eventos, y éste era uno de los top one, imperdible.

  • The Isley's was/is crazy!! They put the stuff out there. People would be waiting to see what they would say next. And the instrumentals are always off the chain! Where did they learn to play? In church??

  • and if you think it's easy it's only cause you ain't me................and I ain't you

  • @peacefulblonde39 I was a sophmore in high shcool when this came out! just think their first hit was in 1958 and they still going!

  • ParliamentFunkadelic, EWF, Ohio Players, The Isley Brothers man we was spoiled back in the 70's but all these great bands and more were all linked by one undeniable element. FUNK! Long live funk music and all it's practitioners.
