You can get in the carrier, gatta follow the ladders or go to one of the pom pom guns it's fun to drive the USS Pimpdaddy or USS Yorktown right outta range of their view and launch torpedo plane attacks make them think its a sub and plane tag team and disperse all their destroiers to the wrong side.
