"...While they spoke enthusiastically about the American soldiers teaching them discipline and how to effectively combat their enemies in Iraq, the soldiers were less effusive in their praise for those managing the war and their plans for bringing about democracy. Phillips tried in vain to locate any McCain supporters among the group."

"Just to be perfectly clear here, I did ask them are you following any of the republican candidates?...Do you want to talk about John McCain? Within that whole group, not one wanted a republican in the US presidential seat. They were all for a democrat. They were all for that type of change because they said they were living a republican war."

  • @hectorsalinasisback Well no, the republicans go all in and support something trying to see it through. Democrats like to blow stuff up and say but we didn't involve the troops. I personally rather see boots on the ground changing things than killing civilians, I support the US military but we have a volunteer military and I don't believe those people volunteer to live under dictators nor do they volunteer to be bombed. Commit to something or don't no half in half out.

  • President Clinton first took military action against Iraq in 1998 and Bush escalated the war into what it became. Those strikes against Iraq Although Iraq was cooperating with UNCSCOM inspectors, Clinton lied & said they were not to justify confrontation. Hundreds of innocent villagers including women and children were murdered, but the media minimized those deaths. Clinton was just another Bush and Obama is just another Bush. Political parties don't matter. Republicans/Democrats are the same.

  • I think I heard a huge group of our troops applaud rather loudly when Obama, during an appearance in Iraq, said that it is time that Iraq takes responsibility for their own country now. It is time - We can't be their baby sitter forever, man, and that whole distraction was brought on to line the pockets of Bush,Cheney, and all of their oil company cronies anyway - Duh! If they really cared about freedom and stopping injustice they would have busted into Darfur- That was truly hideous.

  • Interesting side note. Republican law makers attempted to quash and disqualify absentee ballots submitted by our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan in the last election. They failed, thank God. Why are they always seeking to prevent voted, voters, and voting? Sounds like something Saddam Hussein would have practiced. Thank God the American people have figured out that aside from bitching, the only agenda the republicans really have is to throw more money at millionaires.

  • I had a link about a month ago but it got flushed in the wake of Obama's victory.

  • Proof?

  • i.e. they all hate Americans.

  • Why would the Iraqis want the Democrats elected during a war? Because the democrats would retreat or surrender.
