This was a college project to increase awareness of occupational therapy around the world. Most people don't understand what is it about and confuse it for other professions. Hope you find it helpful in understanding what we do! I found OT as a rewarding experience on a daily basis :)

The reason why i choose this courses and career is because I like to work with children and old people, I wonder to be there for any kids that face hard and tough time in their life and be their for them, and I kinda feel that I do not have this kind of support from nice and understanding people, and I think that I am perfect for that kind of job and I can't wait to start my course soon.

I'm applying for an internship to work with a Occupational Therapy and this video was of great help because I really didn't know what to expect. thank you

And the great thing about it is that you have many fields that you can choose in this profession. I am just very surprised that in a developed country like the U.S, people are not aware of this profession or mistaken it for others. I hope that it will change in the future.

i was actually thinking about going for nursing and i decided to apply for this internship because it seems like working with an occupational therapist was best way to get close to the patients and see if working with and for patients is really something i wanted to do. so you know what field in the occupational therapy area would the most closely related to nursing?

Well, there are major differences between nursing and occupational therapy. Although, both are work for the interest of the patient which is to get better and healthy, however, OT does not apply medications. OT cares that the patient engages in his/her meaningful activities that he/she likes and needs to do daily. I think that if you work in the medical hospital where OT and nurses work together, it will help you to compare between their professions and base on that you can make your decision.
