The statement made for that response was that it was an historical Irish dialect, so I said no. Then I said Latin, which it is, and then I said badly pronounced - If one believes that singing a dead language in the dialect of modern Hiberno-English circa 1994, then it is correctly pronounced. Otherwise it isn't. So what I said simply refuted an incorrect statement. I am Irish, and this is the way we all talk. We enjoy it. I got an F in Latin and its "faeces".

My interest lies in the days when Christian music wasn't emasculated by Vat II. Sadly, material like this and so much of the greatest music ever written, has been relegated to Concert Halls and recitals rather than everyday use, bongos or not.

"You say "feces" and I say "faeces"

You say "Tomaeto" and I say "Tomato"

    "Tomato", "faeces", "Tomaeto", "feces"

    Lets call..."

Excellent! More to sling around with a different spelling.

As a matter of fact, both "feces" and "faeces" are accepted forms of the word in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

Well, according to Vatican II, "The use of other instruments may also be admitted in divine worship, given the decision and consent of the competent territorial authority, provided that the instruments are suitable for sacred use." It depends on the region/culture, but I've never seen anything other than bells or and organ accompany chant.

I am aware of instruments in worship being used up to 1000 years ago - when would they not have been?

Well, not anymore. But at one point, vulgar instruments were not seen fit for the house of God.

Only the organ is allowed in church, because it is the closest to the human voice.
