This was our D16 & G13 Deer Hunt Opener in San Diego 2008. Rick (Westy) and I camped at Lake Henshaw Campground and hunted nearby. RIck got a doe Saturday night. I saw one spike and several does but no legal bucks.

One deer some other hunters in camp were skinning had been found with a cougar having eaten part of it.

  • Dinky little thing, even for D16, killed a 5 by 6 with a 24 inch spread out on some private land near Cleveland National Forest some years ago, only weighed about 115 pounds though. Had my brother get a 4 by 4 this year with about an 18 inch spread too, didn't buy a tag for myself though. You guys ever hunt Wister or SJ for ducks, and geese?

  • @mtinch7 Yes, I get out to Wister and San JAcinto to waterfowl and hunt the CO river too.

  • where on palomar was this? love valley? mile marker 6? or by the observatory?

  • @xdcigtx The deer are from several areas, most were from My Country Club, the private hunting club out of Lake Henshaw.

  • Yeah, I'll have to agree with you. More range time needed for that guy, might help to put more rounds. I mean - didn't have the scope sighted in? And you're hunting like that? Huh?

  • I'm just kidding brother.

  • Id rather be a skilled hunter, and have more respect for my quarry and sport to be an amateur!? not saying your an ametuer though man.
