Extended trailer for my upcoming film "The Battle for Land":
Afrocolombian forced displacement/ Desplazamiento forzado Afrocolombiano.
Filmed throughout the Colombian Pacific and the capital city of Bogotá, The Battle for Land journeys deep into the catastrophic complexities of mass displacement. Through an intimate, character-driven style, the film pushes us past prevailing ideas in which displacement is seen as an aberration, a sad outcome of the civil war, and progressively reveals a much more intricate picture where violence and uprooting are exposed as an intrinsic part of the governments project for progress; a project directly complicit with the interests of multinational corporations, for whom the Colombian Pacific represents a new frontier for mass production of diesel crops / biofuels: specifically the oil palm.
