i hope this helps some people with Niles i love my two and it takes a lot of time with Nile monitor to try to make them be less aggressive

Nile monitors care sheet :
Niles need many Temperatures in the any size tank like 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit on the hot side 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit on the cool side and around 120degrees Fahrenheit for the basking spot
ambient Temperature needs to be around 86 degrees Fahrenheit

Caging:
cage needs at least 8' by 6' by 6' for a adult nile
and a 55 gallon for a baby

Reptile Substrates:
i use dirt sand and rock
give them about 7 - 10 inch's of dirt and sand mix to borrow in

Diet:
can be fish egg steak pork chicken rats mouse bullfrogs smaller lizards
i use egg's ,steak ,pork , chicken cut small chucks
small crickets and meal Pinkys works for small Niles dip all foods in reptile calcium

Water Bowl:
need to be big enough to soak and swim in for you nile

Hide :
you will need to be at least two times the size of the nile

Lighting and heating:
what i use 1 100 watt
Powersun UV Mercury Vapor Bulbs, 2 300 watt Ceramic Heaters ,1 60 watt Desert Coil Bulb, 2 Repti-Therm Remote Sensor Thermostat's , 1
Metal Canopy dual Light Fixtures with two 200 watt UV b tube bulbs and two timers for the lights one for day and one for night

basking spot temperature:
it should be 110 -130 degrees Fahrenheit for a juvenile Nile monitor and for adult Nile monitor it should be around 130-140 degrees Fahrenheit
and by adult i mean over 5 feet long

are they socialable to each other ?

should i introduce another sooner or later ?
