VLC Media Player - Play Any Video Format On Your iDevice - Available In Cydia

Ever wanted an EASY way to play ANY video with any format on your iDevice? WELL NOW YOU CAN! VLC media player is NOW available for Jailbroken users in Cydia!


Steps:

1. Open Cydia

2. Add the source: http://rpetri.ch/repo

3. Install VLC Media Player from that source

4. Also install OpenSSH

5. SSH into your device and browse to: var/mobile/documents

6. Drag your video into the SSH window

7. Exit VLC if its open

8. Open VLC and play!

hey ICU, ive got a ipod touch 2g non mc model on 4.2.1 and when i open the vlc app it just crashes on launch ive tried installing it from installous but still no luck. do u have any suggestions or solutions?

@xboxapple1 wow you made this reply yesterday? and you still haven't gotten tech savvy even though this video was from 2011. you don't need to keep it tethered to your computer. the file is copied to the idevice and you can take those videos wherever you like. if you have windows you can use ifunbox or something similar and skip ssh all together.

Ok good but what's the point to go all the way to pair ssh with your computer you may aswell watch the vide straight from you computer any app you can view for example flash format straight from safari??

Thanks, this really worked. However my video files are too large and too HQ to play smoothly on my iPhone 4. Is there a way to make it smaller so that it is compatible on it?

...I found out by myself that the reason yours DID NOT work is because VLC actually says to place MEDIA in the var/mobile/media! NOT bloody documents!
