You hit the nail right on the head. It's not fair the way so many people flat out detest Elmo, because there hasn't been a single character in the history of the show good enough to hog the spotlight. It's about everyone, and no one is the best. If Jim had been alive to hear all these pointless objections to the real Sesame Street, he'd probably say, "either it stays as it is, or it goes off the air."

You're right, Marbles. In fact I read an interview with Frank Oz in recent months where he called the current Sesame Street "sh--t"... now I thought that was pretty blunt, but honest. He said when he worked with Henson the muppets were edgy and interesting, and today all of that is pretty much gone from children's television. I wish I could find that article again. It was very much what you just said.
