Theodore Corbin, MD, has been named a Stoneleigh Foundation Fellow for his efforts to combat violence in the underserved youth of Philadelphia through Healing Hurt People (HHP). Dr. Corbin is a Department of Emergency Medicine physician and passionate anti-violence prevention advocate who helped create Healing Hurt People in response to witnessing the physical, psychological, and long-term health effects of violence.
"Violence is a major public health problem nationally, and especially in Philadelphia and among young men of color," says Dr. Corbin. "Trauma in childhood and young adulthood leads to depression, anxiety, obesity, other chronic diseases and the perpetuation of violence."
