Testing my Sony DCR-SR200 camcorder equipped with the Sony VCL-R2037 S Tele Conversion X 2.0 Lens. Some notes...

See the man on the moon!

All footage was well into the digital zoom realm of the camera. Maximum telephoto zoom was reached in this demo: X 160. One of the trickiest parts was finding out how fast the moon actually moves at this range; needed to reposition the tripod settings every few moments.

With regards to the lens, when attached to the camera, a tripod is a near must. I believe it somehow messes up or even disables the Sony SteadyShot picture stabilization function.

Editing involved slightly lessening of brightness.

Oooh! Aaah! Look at those craters on the moon! ^_^

Summary about the camera: it's no Hubble space telescope but it's fine for the usual non-professional Earth videos. The lens gives a fine boost in zoom effectively doubling the 10x optical 80x digital but like I mentioned earlier image stabilization is an issue - need a tripod to make full use of it.

ive had this camera since 2001 and use it quite often. ive had no problems with it.

  • Terrible aberration :(

  • hey, mine's starting to do that now. is yours working now? how did you fix it if it works now?

  • its a fly

  • Nice shot with a camcorder. Did anyone notice the object in the last vew moments? Between 1:09 and 1:13 time frame...

  • This camera is a piece of SHIT! Theres a very common problem for this camcorder and its that the screen gets all dark after like a year of using it. If youre gonna get this camcorder, get an extended warranty

  • Very well filmed. The Moon is almost 2 percent of the volume of the Earth and is just over one fourth of it's diameter.

About the same side of the Moon is always facing the Earth.
