Steve Chase (James Ryan) second, and successful attempt to recruit The Fly (Stan Schmidt)

The Fly: Welcome Steve... I was expecting you... Sit
Steve Chase: I know you see me, but do you hear me, Fly?
Steve Chase: Okay, C'mon Fly... I need your feet... There are many lives at stake here
The Fly: For this mission, feet alone are insufficient... The mind that leads the feet must be wise
[Fly levitates off the floor]
Steve Chase: Another one of your games, Fly?
The Fly: Perhaps only a game of illusion... Perhaps real... Can you match me?
Steve Chase: [Steve tries to levitates, but fails]
The Fly: A true leader finds a way around any obstacle... I'm sorry, I cannot follow you
The Fly: [Fly turns and pours some tea while Steve tries again... When Fly turns back, Steve is levitating]
The Fly: How did you manage this illusion?
[Fly turns and puts tea down, when he turns back, Steve is sitting again]
Steve Chase: What illusion, Fly?
The Fly: You lead, I'll come

  • Neil Diamond? Pthew. Pthew. Steve (James Ryan) looks more like God's gift to women. Back in "the day", my friends and I had a major crush on him. Where is he today?? I still want him! lol

  • Steve looks like Niel Diamond.

  • The South African team of Norman Robinson, Stan Schmidt, Eddie Dory, Malcom Dorfman, Ken Woodstock, Derek & Keith Geyer were all very, very good indeed. I know, I trained with them for many years. They were as quick as the Japs & all well over six foot. Formidable. Certainly would have beaten them, at least in the Kumite. The SA govt would not alow them to fight in any more World Champs, since they all earned their living teaching karate, & SA then had only amateur status. - tai krige sasc.

  • Yes, dispite the low budget, corny dialoque and terrible beard on Mike Meyer, (Marduk )...the South african Shotokan sensei's were top drawer, world class, especially sensei Norman Robinson & Stan Schmidt. In fact at the World Karate Championship in Japan in the 70's, the Japanesse team were so wary of fighting them, fearing they would lose, the SA team was cheated out of the finals on purpose, by losing to Italy in the semi finals, who they had beaten many times before.

  • Agreed. Back in the 60s to maybe early 80s, movies actually showcased masters, real martial ARTISTS, as opposed to the athletes and showmen with mere name recognition who are all the vogue nowadays.

  • This is Master Stan Schmidt!! Best Karate man ever

  • 1981 what could you expect. It's such a classic movie. Bravo !!!!

  • incredible, on so many levels

  • I remember this, i was howling
