Wana Baraka is a popular Kenyan religious song. The arranger learned the song through a delegation of Kenyans who participated in the 1994 Agricultural Missions International Consultation in Sogakope, Ghana.
Translation for this piece
Wana Baraka wale waombao
The have blessings, those who pray;
Yesu mwenyewe alisema. Alleluya!
Jesus himself said so. Alleluia
Wana amani
They have peace
Wana furaha
They have joy
Wana uzima
They have life/ They have well-being.
Students from ICS, Morrison Academy in Taiwan, Faith Academy in Philippines and also Shenyang International School in China got together for 3days and rehearse this song to perform this piece. Conducted by Mr. Timothy Sawyer.
Percussion is excellent, however, the sound of the choir is drowned. A pity that the choir cannot sing this work without books!

I love this song so much! My church choir is rehearsing it now for a festival, and we're so excited for it! It's a song that you really have to be on your game for, since all the parts blend into each other. If you get off for even a measure, you're pretty much screwed.
Great execution!!

I was curious as to why the ending to this piece (which is different from the original) was so familiar - as it turns out, I attended the Southern California ACSI Musicale just this last weekend (which included Wana, Let Everything, Ukranian Alleluia, and Speak O Lord, among others) and Tim Sawyer was the conductor there as well. He's really a fantastic person with an appropriate sense of humor and amazing talent... plus the ending was fantastic with 800 singers!
