Frankie Paul - Shub In

Frankie Paul was born Paul Blake in 1965. He was blind at birth and this impairment, along with his tremendous vocal range and musical ability has meant that he is often referred to as Jamaica's Stevie Wonder.

Frankie Paul has released countless singles and over 30 album since he hit the reggae scene in the early 80's. They include popular tracks such as "Pass The Tu Shung Peng", "Sara", "Fire De A Muss Muss Tail" and "Alesha".

Its on the Rougher Yet riddim and he released a couple of other tunes on the same riddim around the same time on the Powerhouse label which were produced by George Phang. Maybe you could start there or someone else may be able to help.

The youngsters now would call it a shubz.

Its a shubeen, blues dance of the ole skool variety.

So if you listen the lyrics he's saying you walk into the shub in, drink a rum, find a gyal and listen some music etc etc.

shubeen is a7 nights a week after hours drinkin den/club where people would go after the club to buy drink and dance listen to djs play music loud and heavy till a morning they were more popular in the 80s I only can talk fi UK. I use to be a dj in a shubeen 216 Lembeck cresant Mosside Manchester you cant buy them memories. R.I.P MY FADA he use to love this franky..
