  • @TomsFriendKake I think part of her point, no explicit here but that she mentions in some of her other interviews, is that marriage and the military are NOT creating an interesting Gay culture; in fact, in a sense it's destroying the art, reflection and rebellion that makes Gay culture what - hate to say this - what it once WAS.

  • Well, I've always said, "The only thing sillier than fighting FOR gay marriage is fighting AGAINST it."

  • @joshgodawful : I'm going to say this one more time and I'm going to say it on behalf of all black people as a black women. Use your own fucking arguments and not ours. Do not use black people as your poster child to bring across your arguments. Most gay white folks have been benefactors (as most whites) of privileges most black people can only dream of at one time in history or even today and at our expense. Your "plight" comes from a behavioral perspective, not ethnic or racial.

  • @Samuraionthewall What you're seeing is not important. You should listen instead.

  • no one paid atention to what Truman Capote said? it was pure genious, he's right.

  • I completely agree with her

  • Normalizing is the whole point of the gay rights movement. Hell, we still have large numbers of people that hate black people for no substantive reason. It's going to take decades for gay people to be fully accepted as a normal part of society. It seems that people in general have this yearning to hate what is different or condemn and restrict those things that they don't like. Those who complain the loudest against gay rights are those who would kill to maintain their own rights.

  • I'm not sure what I'm seeing here. Is it a man, a woman, a human or a puppet? Very very weird.

  • I love when people say the best thing about being gay is not having to get married. No one has to get married you moron. How is that a plus for gays?

Btw, did abolition and the civil rights act destroy "black culture?" Even if they did, would anyone use that as an argument against abolition or civil rights?

  • @IzzyIsou that sounds awfully similar to what fans of 'obscure' artists say when their beloved artist gains more mainstream appeal ~ people _love_ feeling as though they're in on a cool-little-secret :)

As a gay person, I couldn't care LESS about "creating an interesting gay culture". I'm a full supporter of the fight for gay marriage. I don't care if some gay people see this as 'normalizing' or whatever ~ the important thing is that there are gay couples who WANT to be married.
