Its easy to do. If you get too specific and the audience doesn't respond, you bring it back out and go general again. It takes practice to make it look good.

I don't think it's cold reading, either. She's not there to make money off of anyone, she was there to raise money. She also does readings for FREE for families whose children have passed. She's not trying to get money off of anyone, nor is she a typical cold reader stage magician. Go to a real life medium that has a good reputation and keep an open mind and then see if you still think it's cold reading.

@sincristo But thats not a cold reading. Perhaps you should look up COLD READING. She still asked if your "dad" passed, dad being Specific information. If she would've said, has "one" of your parents passed then she'd have a 50% chance of being able to guess. She said specifically Dad. Cold reading is saying things about emotions everyday people experience on a daily basis. Like : I feel you have been depressed in the past. Well duh, who hasn't. THAT is cold reading. Not "has your dad passed."

It's called cold reading, folks. You ask a question, get a partial (or, if you're lucky, full) confirmation, then spin it.
Example: The second lady in this video, at 1:30. Maureen asks if her dad has passed. Gets a confirmation, then launches into a story about how she could see him standing next to dead mom, saying "I'm the dad" proudly.
Assuming this is true... why did she have to ASK if dad had passed? She could have said: your dad is dead. He's here with us.
This is not magic, people.
