Fireside on Immigration and the Arizona Compact.

Dear Senator Russell Pearce,

We would like to invite you to a Fireside on Utah Compact and Immigration Debate to be held in November. There has been much confusion where numerous Tea Party supporters have said you do not support the Utah Compact at events within the past year. Almost a year ago, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) issued a statement for their support of the Utah Compact, a document backed by a broad spectrum of community leaders in Utah. The Church regards the declaration of the Utah Compact as a responsible approach to the urgent challenge of immigration reform.

Since there has been confusion as to where you stand on the immigration issue, we would like to invite you to an event that will clear the record on this confusion, particularly to residents who reside near the Mesa LDS Temple.

As you might already know, Daryl Williams is a prominent individual in the State of Arizona and is a respectable lawyer with a practice in the Biltmore area. Mr. Williams is a conservative Republican. He is a member of the High Council of the Paradise Valley Arizona Stake. He has been a life-long Mormon, served in several bishoprics, on several High Councils, and in many other callings in the Church. His ancestors lived and are buried in Missouri, Nauvoo, and walked across the plains to Utah. He is a scriptorian. Mr. Williams has also written an essay with regard to illegal immigration and believes the answer resides in the free market / Capitalism approach. The essay can be read here.

This is an important discussion since much confusion is out there with regard to whether or not you fully support the views of the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS). Many Mesa residents believe this is important enough to attend as we believe this discussion will clear the confusion and many within the LDS community. If the below date and time will not work for you, we can re-schedule the debate for days between October 29, 2011 through November 5, 2011 that is more convenient to you.

Date: 5 November 2011

Time: 1:00 -- 2:00 pm

Location: Mesa Public Library, 64 E First Street, Mesa, AZ — 2nd Floor Saguaro Room

(Open to the Public)

I can be reached at 480.200.3748 or email us at info@somosrepublicans.com should you have any questions or concerns, or if you want to reschedule the date aforementioned. If you are unable to attend, we will continue with the debate with an empty chair. We hope you will find this important enough to attend.

Kind regards,

DeeDee Garcia Blase
