The only "threat" from china (and india) is to the environment. As their wealth increases and their lifestyles are modernised with more car owners and higher fossil fuel consumption, global warming will accelerate.
Then the sun will be blocked out by smog, temperatures will plummet, the earth will freeze over, and i'll have to ice skate to work goddammit!!!
