This was done for a 3 part philosophy ISU.

Albert Camus was a philosopher and author who is often placed under the philosophical umbrella of existentialism.

He is a firm believer and advocate of absurdism which is the belief that any human attempt to find some sort of meaning in life completely fails because no such meaning exists.

In The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus expressed his idea of discovering the absurd. He talks about the meaningless machine-like tasks that people do every day as they veer closer and closer to the end (death). He also talks about the concequences of discovering the absurd which is basically the time when you stop your routine-like actions and think "why".

All quotes from Camus are taken directly out of his book, "The Myth of Sisyphus and other essays"

  • I'm glad to see that Camus and his thinking are living all around the world !

In france, he is now recognized like an important thinker, but unfortunately, his philosophy remains misunderstood and unknown by many, too many.

I love your video, because it transmits well so accessible to all, the discomfort of the absurd, and quotations are cleverly chosen.

    Congratulations from france !

  • (Sorry if my english is bad)

Message of a impassioned French of philosophy: I am a very large admiror of Albert Camus who is and will remain “my” thinker, and I found your video excellent…

    Thank you for this moment,

    kisses from France.

  • would one consider the process of tilling the soil planting the seed, waiting for the food, then harvest absurd? yes it is true there are things people have to do to survive over, and over again. eating sleeping and working are not meaningless actions.

  • This is absolutely wonderful, so addictive - can't stop watching it. Good work!

  • thanks from Rome.

  • This is a typical impression of Camus work. I like it because it is simple, so as anyone can understand. A friend once told me find someone who is not of habit and please ask them to bleed to see if there human. It was a good point since we are creatures of habit and without it we would be scattered which is worse than being in existential and metaphysical despair.

This is to the director of the video- was this for class??

  • Annoying speaker. Speaks too fast, like a teenage girl.

  • this helps so much with my homework! great job thank you!

  • NICE Vid! the music's too loud though!! :D

  • Great job with this video! I really liked this.

  • @sydneywtflicious You kinda mispronounced Camus. It sounded like camuh, but it's more like camoo if you use an anglophone's tongue.

  • Does anyone know the differences in Camus'

Ethics of Lucidity and Leo Tolstoys Perceptual Faith?
