Adam Henrique and Jacob Josefson each had two points, but it was Louis Robitaille who netted the game-winning goal to give the Albany Devils a 3-2 victory against the Binghamton Senators Friday night at the Times Union Center. The win was the third straight for the Devils, who are now 16-20-0-3.
The Senators four-game winning streak comes to a halt as they move to 20-17-2-2.
"If you get contributions from everyone, regardless if it's on the scoreboard, that's a good sign," said head coach Rick Kowalsky.
With 3:39 gone in the third, Albany was pressuring deep in the Senators zone. Robitaille took a high stick to the face, lost his twig, got up, found a rebound and then willed the game-deciding tally. Robitaille, known mainly for his toughness, has two goals on the season -- both are game-winners. David McIntyre was credited with the assist.
"I think [McIntyre] and [Patrick Davis] came back and did a great job on the forecheck," Robitaille said. "I tried to get the rebound first; got high sticked. I grabbed my stick and the puck was right there. I sent a floater at his feet and it goes in. Sometimes it's just hard work to get the goal and I was lucky it was me."
