Can two-year-olds play-act? A psychological case-study

What is going on here? Is two-year-old Libbie punished so often at her day-care for saying no, that she knows the drill and automatically goes in the corner? It's unlikely. She's a well-behaved child. I hope the day-care attendants aren't so harsh as to punish an occasional no.

Or is Libbie clowning, mocking parental authority in a way she knows is too endearing to raise anyone's ire? Can two-year-olds can play-act? Can two-year-olds mock authority?
