Hahaha, there is a little EVO lancer that went around eastern creek over 2 Seconds faster, and it was on street tyres, and it's a 4 cylinder.........lol. They ran an ex V8 Supertaxi at the event on street tyres, and it was 7 Seconds slower than that EVO. Time attack in Australia is the best thing that has happened in years!

@kingbrenty From what I've learnt the reason V8s are what they are today is because Ford complained about the other cars being too quick or too powerful or something or other

@KonigK1ngs That was true at the end of group a, but only to bring them back to something approaching fair. The previous 7 years of group a had the v8s running 200-300 kg more than turbos and in 87 FISA in its wisdom put more weight on the v8s and made them run an inch narrower tyres whilst giving turbos freedom in fuel system management and intercoolers. took the withdraw of europe from group a before cams had the guts to act. 87 sierra 1090kg dunnydore 1345kg on the same allowed width tyres

@iceman543 That Wellington track was a mess. Horrible hairpin, spectators standing on the sides of the track, that awful bridge that had to be the most dangerous part of any track in the pacific! The bumps! what a C@#$ of a track. Bur least Brock won there, twice :)

@Souljastyle They did kick arse, but the rules were very favorable for turbo cars. BTW Until the GTR came along all previous versions of the Skyline had its arse well and truly kicked at Bathurst. Altho some will say hey they came second in 87 really they just played the percentages better than the rest. 86 they came third with their better car destroying tyres and both slower than the top 3 v8s but 88 was a disaster for them both out before lap 10 and well off the pace of the Sierras
