1. Olympic white jazz bass with flatwound strings (alder, maple, rosewood)

2. Natural jazz bass with steel roundwound strings (ash, maple, maple) +Badass II

3. Black jazz bass fretless with stel roundwoud strings (alder, maple, brazilian rosewood) + Badass II

4.Yellow P-bass with nickel roundwound strings (alder, maple, maple) + Badass II

5. Rickenbacker with nickel roundwound strings (maple, maple, bubinga)

6. Stingray with steel roundwound strings (ash, maple, rosewood)

Notice that stingray and P-bass are equiped with very old stings.

If you wanna buy one of those standard basses i hope that this video will help you to choose:)

  • The bass line is very similar to Bigmouth Strikes Again by Smiths, haven't you noticed?

  • Also, for your song, the P and the Stingray sound the best... and the natural J actually sounds the least fitting

  • That natural J is the best in the mix here. Those clear yet gritty mids sound great. I notice that the Ric has the quality of both the J and P. Gritty mids, yet rich lows. I personally own a J and a Ric.

  • @TheBlueBandYTAccount I've tried to like P basses, but I just cant find a tone I like. They are to boomy and mid scooped. They sound ok with flats though.

  • Wow, great video comparison. Well done. Have to say I was surprised by the Ric. Very versatile, but I have to give it to the.....ding, ding, ding...STINGRAY!

  • @Mightypaul All a bass player really need is a P-bass (preferably a deluxe version), a Stingray and a Fretless jazz.

  • I am impressed with the job. Congratulations, man!

  • p is cool, on j you better use flats

  • All a bass player really needs is a Jazz and a Sting Ray.

  • Liked p-bass, white j-bass and rickenbacker in the mix. P-bass has a roar, j-bass sounds with a vintage warmth and body and Rickenbacker has a smooth nice tone. The other sound well but stick out from this mix.
