Lovely song, evocative of two eras late victorian and the sixties. This music also sounds very English. Fairfield Parlour and Kaleidoscope deserve to be household names.
Thanks so much for posting this - my mother used to play the whole album constantly when I was a small child (I'm now 42) - I haven't heard it since then and this was my favourate song!

Fantastic song!! Only 1,500 views...!!!!!!! why?
Do you have the double LP of songs from Kaleidoscope that issued in the early '90s?

The song is awfully sad, is it poking fun at dementia ?

It's basically making fun of the then-recent cliche of overly precious, pale-and-tragic psychedelic tunes about women called Emily etc.

What is this song about? I looked up the lyrics but I still don't understand it?

I agree with Alfie Banana - a real good song. A really really good song.
