Bob Armstrong brings his old golden Boston (a retired guide dog for blind) to the Kaiser Permanente hospital in Santa Clara, CA. I didn't even know they had pet therapy until mom's last day in the hospital, and found Bob and the pooch in the lobby. They were kind enough to come up to the fourth floor and had a spirit lifting visit with Mom.

Boston now has his own Facebook page, Bostobeast. Become a fan. Write Bob and Boston at boston@bostobeast.com.

Music is by Paul Adams from his album "A View from the Plain." Listen and buy at http://www.pauladams.org.

  • Carol, My good friend, Shirley sent me this link this morning. Bob is her son-in-law. I met Boston years ago when her daughter was using him for a guide dog.

What a touching story and tribute to Boston. He is a neat dog and so glad he is able to bring a smile to the faces of people like your mom.

  • Yes, we all were charmed by the Bob N Boston duo. Bob ought to grow out his beard and be a Santa!

  • I loved Boston and all the other therapy dogs!!! They always brought a smile to my face despite having a hard 3 week hospital stay at the Santa Clara Kaiser!

  • Be sure to become a Boston FAN on Facebook. His page is called BostoBeast.

  • Mom loved visiting Boston again through the video and Boston's Facebook page, BostoBeast. Go visit and become a FAN!

  • Carol I have a cat named Boston. :) I thought he was the only cat or dog with that name! I'm sorry to hear that cancer claimed him. My Boston Kitteh helped me though some really dark times n my dealings with cancer and was the most loving, social and caring individual I think I've ever dealt with. He has a capacity for love that is a real rarity.

  • Boston passed away last week due to cancer. I'm sure both the patients and the volunteers at the Volunteer Services are going to miss this sweet dog. He has touched so many hearts...
