prost and balestre were the "french-connection" back then...

I was going to put something about the definiton of genius being the difference between Mansell crashing out and Senna storming through, before I remembered Ayrton's mistake here four years later with a massive lead in his McLaren. It's ironic that he came to prominence in F1 at this race and then it would be 10 years exactly when he'd be no longer be there.
The Rainmaster. May his legend live on...

like the way they moved the brabham towards the tunnel where it is more likely to be hit!

@villy27 Bellof was disqualified due to the FIA wanting the Tyrrells out of the way, believing the combination of DFVs and young chargers was making a mockery of the shiny manufacturer-friendly F1 they were trying to create. The microcarbon traces were only found at Detroit, but the FIA removed all their results.

@schopfheim91 - Agreed, there was absolutely no reason for him to try pulling away from Prost at that rate, especially as Prost wasn't particularly fussed about winning. Typical Alain wet drive, just going as fast as he felt was safe and keeping out of everyone's way, it just happened that Prost on autopilot was faster and smoother than everyone bar Senna and Bellof...
