Fantastic to see them working together. It reminds me of watching The Tonight Show as a teenager in the 70s.

Sure Doc, it's OK to laugh. I never have to been to funeral where there hasn't been any laughter

4:32 gets me every time. Can you believe that it's been 20 years since Johnny signed off? That entire last week of shows was magical. Time has shown that he was the master of late night... no peers, IMO.

@AyeAyeCapnN It looks like a fluglehorn made famous by Chuck Mangione but doesn't have the same mellow tone quality. So not really sure.

Have followed Doc for 50 years, met him twice in the early 60's when he would visit schools. Does anyone know what horn he is playing - as an old trumpet player, would love to know - it has to be one of his makes. Thanks for the upload - only watched it 40 or so times. So far.

Just a wonderful song played to o perfection by the wind section and the orchestra

@Archiebuildsgarbage hear hear i could not agree with you more.I watch this late one night in Australia and just felt like crying.

Doc is a class act
-
@CzapigaKielbasa I agree.

This was the last class act on television from an incredible group of musicians. They brought style and class to TV in a way that can never be replicated. Johnny Carson was one of the best and had to have the finest in the industry. I cannot wait to see Doc Severinsen play in Arizona in 2012.
Magic. The classiest tribute I've ever seen.

And it sounds even better when it's put through your home system with a set of BOSE. And some people laugh at me and give me this face when I tell them I love to hear a string section. Oh what some people are missing.
