  • wish i could get to see the infamous tramp killing scene that was taken out!!!

  • I totally agree! This reminds me of other horror classics like Alien. What truly makes this such a unique film is that there are visual elements that keep you guessing. Perfect example: the subway scene....when the "banker" is laying on the escalator and we see the werewolf come into the top of the screen, ever-so slightly...THAT is a perfect example of less is more.

  • @Themaniacnextdoor Yes, it is. Landis said in an interview that he cut an entire sequence out where the three hobos get killed because it was so shocking that it completely freaked out a test audience and he felt that it distracted people far too much from the continuing plot of the film. It's really too bad that he didn't hang on to the cut footage because it's now apparently lost forever. Such a shame.

  • I wish that they had shown more of the wolf then they did. Also, i've heard of a deleted victim. Is that true?

  • This will always be my favorite werewolf film next to the black and white classic with Lon Chaney Jr.

  • wow i didn't see the end result of the face before

  • I hear that someone has that werewolf suit in their basement because it won them an oscar. I wonder how much it would cost to get a replica?

  • That werewolf is one of the most hideous looking creatures I've ever seen on film. Ranks right up there with the original Alien.

  • @xxDEATHKILLERxx

A tramp/hobo being flung about rather than just a swift cut away as the attack happens.

Now I have not seen this and its said to be lost...(the murders of the three tramps, dropped from the final cut when it proved to disrupt the flow of the film with test audiences).

  • @elshowgun15 infamous tramp killing scene? ive never heard of this please tell me more.

  • @71crm Very true. I think the original wolf was badly aged, and was sent for restoration to Tom Spina designs, who did an amazing job in restoring it to as-new condition. I've had a look at the webpage on the restoration. He made a terrific job in rebuilding "Oscar" to all his frightening glory!

  • Brilliant film and still the best human-to-wolf transformation ever seen on film, even by today's standards. Live effects and prosthetics are far more realistic than CGI, as computer effects are way too overdone these days. Rick Baker had to invent these mechanical effects from scratch. An Oscar that was well-deserved. This film works so well, as the wolf isn't really shown all that much, and when it is seen, it's so unbelievably savage-looking, it really is bloody frightening!
