Things sure have changed since this video aired

Rick Mercer actually sounds like the Newfie he is in this video. Weird to hear him talk in his normal accent :S

@ammarios NDP are left wing, Newfoundland Separatists are left wing, Liberals are in the middle, but more left wing, and all our historical parties like the Fisherman's Protective Union Party and Longshoreman Protection Union Party were all left wing, and that was in the 1890s

@ammarios First of all, NFLD. DDDDDD. Anyways, yes, absolutely. Our parties are so left wing it would make an American Business man weep.

@ammarios Socially more than economically. Post-Secondary Education is heavily subsidized. Tuition fees have been frozen since 1999, I believe (not sure about the year). But because NFLD is so economically depressed, the PCs there are very pro-oil exploration etc.. Overall, the PC government there is moderate but a bit left-leaning. Also, very OPPOSED to the Federal Conservatives

@ammarios Yes, it's very true.

St. John's Maple Leafs ! Mr. Williams, you are the man !
Is that true?? That the Newfoundland Progressive Conservatives are actually further left than the Liberals?? (I'm not from NFL so I have no idea)... If that is true, then I have a newfound increase in respect for Newfoundland (err.. no pun intended).. but I would seriously like to know whether that is true ...

@danielle9074 Thanks for replying.
That's actually awesome. So I guess NFL then is NOT just a bunch of right-wingers..and I guess that totally puts Danny Williams anti-Harper campaign into perspective.
This really brings Newfoundland up in my view ALOT.
Are they more left-wing economically, socially or pretty much on both scales?
