Knockout Mark Wahlberg talks Trilogy! Stay right there, updates on The Fighter are coming your way!

Hey guys, Tatiana for Clevver Movies here with the latest on The Fighter!

Markie Mark Wahlberg recently confirmed while accepting an award for "best guy movie" at the Spike Awards that there will in fact be a Fighter sequel...as well as a third installment to the boxing flick!

While accepting his speech, Mark said," "We left out the Gatti fights for a reason...Because that's for 'Fighter 2′. We're not going to do 'Fighter' 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, but we're gonna do 2. We're gonna do the Ward/Gatti trilogy."

We don't blame Walberg for not wanting to do a fighter 4 through 8, considering that wasn't the best move for the Rocky franchise. Were totally pumped for the trilogy and will be sure to keep you posted as we get more details!

So whether you are a Gatti fan, boxing fan, or simply a fan of Wahlberg's boxing body, The Fighter 2 should be a win win!

I love this film but why does there have to be 3. Why cant film makers just make one film and leave it at that! sequals are never as god as the original !

Well its looks like the fighter is gonna be are modern rocky franchise but I been trying to go to film school and I figured if the fighter is such a successful underdog boxing film than maybe if im in the industry than I should come up with another boxing story to compete with it .

i'll say the same to you as i just said to SCAG... Ward vs gatti... Go watch the 3 fights on youtube!!! They could make very emotional films, espeically if it goes deeper into gatti's story as the 3 films progress! Both these men are beyound human, have you seen any rocky films? well these two fight like those film fights for real, it's crazy stuff that if done right will be far more than amazing - like the fights the films could be classics :)

I'm guessing, the fighter 2 will be ward beating gatti in the first fight... then the fighter 3 will probs be the 2nd and third fight vs gatti (& yes these stories will be very worth making) It's like the fighter 1 was just to get us to the point in time of the fights (it's a shame that gatti story isn't being told in the same detail though!) i seriously hope they do him justice! ps.. if you haven't watched those fights? into boxing or not... It is a MUST! peace

@TylerAColby, so your problem is an over-generalized beef with Hollywood and you just picked on the sequel of this movie ignorantly just because you want to hate all sequels. Right? Look, why don't you watch some of Ward's greatest fights, and what he went through, and why his whole story shouldn't be told when it could be? That's just silly, all because sequels suck?? Really? Those fights he fought are more worthy of being in a movie than most recorded fights in history. They are that special.

how DARE you insult the rocky franchise!!!! and i thought fighter was just a big hyp...it only got good at the last 40 mins of the film
