that is not snake but eel, very delicious food in Canton (Guangzhou) where I grew up. so is frog. after being cooking, they are not that disgusting and taste like normal meat or fish. it is kind of inhumane to kill them in this way, I admit.

We eat others sometimes like French people eat frog, but just as you do-- want to try, that`s it. Actually, it`s the same cruel to eat sheep, pigs and fishes, isn`t it?
Of couse people there don't consume snake or frog on a daily basis. My point is consuming these food is acceptable and the practice do has some cultural references in it. Besides, eating frog is not as unpopular as you think. Frog can be found in many wet market in Guangdong.
