@brezhnevzhao Gulags existed in late 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, early 1950s. They were abolished by 1956. They should never have been invented; but they offered cheap labor to an impoverished country determined to earn foreign currency and industrialize. The US accepted Soviet gold bars mined by Gulag prisoners in return for wartime aid to USSR. You never hear about that...
