The man is divine. Many people know him as the the old french guy in GIGI but people forget he used to be the idol of france and america in the early thirties.
@gipcambero He sure was- made his biggest impression in the films of Ernst Lubitsch who gave him great parts in his early musicals including "The Love Parade", "One Hour With You" and (best of all perhaps) "The Smiling Lieutenant". Also, check out Rouben Mamoulian's "Love Me Tonight"! ;)
I liked it best in his movie when they all sang "Mimi". He was a charming performer and a marvelous ham. That "Philadelphia" Astaire quote is a cool sign-off. I need one for London.
