Fascinating stuff ... and more swearing than I've ever heard at in a conference talk!

In the ideal world Mr Christopher... Simplicity is the beauty of art, but tis not the reality of nature... The only simple idea is life and death Mr. Christopher... the universe is necessarily complex, is not poetic, and hardly analytical ... ITS a MESS out there.. it works but its a mess

Not at all--it is exactly the opposite. Complexity leads us to very simple ideas and relatively simple equations that predict seemingly complex events.

I am aware of the quote attributed to S.Hawking and not surprisingly at that time i was aware of science of complexity a decade before and suggested in 1999 that I quote from memory;SFI was doing pioneering research into the future with complex adaptive systems. Was i not ahead of Stephen Hawking? But then i was a top student in my class and by his own admission Hawking was not even the cleverest in his class and he didnot learn to read untill he was 8 years old. Any one can become a scientist.

Wow... amazing stuff, complexity does lend itself to theoretical analysis... but since the practical solutions have to be at least as complex as the problem - are we going in circles here?
