Water levels in the Dead Sea are falling sharply - and it's causing real problems for the farms and businesses located along its shore, not to mention the thousands of tourists who visit the region every year. So the authorities have come up with an ambitious plan to pump water along a pipeline, nearly 200km, all the way from the Red Sea to top it up.
But that's angered environmentalists, as Ben Thompson now reports, from
the Dead Sea in Jordan.
