I just realized that I made a comment in my video that might lead the viewer to believe I like my footage better than KurtGnu's. The opposite is true. His is better. My statement refers to my footage from the bank of the Shenandoah River, compared to my footage crossing the bridge. I like the former better than the latter.

You don't want to see this bridge in high water. In fact, you can't see it in high water. ;-)

I made this video out of curiosity, because I'd watched KurtGnu's video, "Driving In Sweden 1: A busy road I was told...," and thought that his through-the-windshield footage was of superiour quality. I was curious to see the comparison, and was right. My camcorder is a bit old, and my windshield is a bit old too. The camera I use for the scenes of the bridge from the bank is newer than my camcorder and of better quality.

In this video, I refer to my video about Memorial Day called "Glory Guards." If you're so inclined, you can see how I used some of this footage in that video.

  • that "dude" was a close friend of my brother .

  • @lunk71 and we should not have made so casual a reference to him. I'm sorry for your brother's friend.

  • dude got shotgunned dead here about 2004.even seen it on tv.

  • I remember that! I was about five miles (rough guess) away in a country story when I learned about it. I remember hearing the police sirens.

  • Two of my friends witnessed the murder on this bridge several years ago. There is also a "Forensic Files" episode on that murder. The low water bridges in Woodstock are much cooler because there are a rope bridges for walking across in case of high water. There are two low water bridges and accompanying rope bridges.

  • Hey, I remember that! I hadn't lived here very long when it happened. You're the second person to tell me about the bridge in Woodstock. I really do need to find it. I didn't know about the rope bridges though. Thanks for telling me about them.

  • Hi Cowboys7795! Thanks for the compliment, and I'll look for the other bridge. I want to do more videos of the area, so I'd love to find it. :)

  • Please accept my apology for not seeing this before! I'm so sorry! Thank you for telling me about the bridge in Luray! I keep meaning to take a drive there one day, for several reasons, but it never seems to happen. I'd like to see that bridge, so now I have one more reason to visit. Thanks again for telling me about the bridge. :)

  • There is another one of these bridges in Luray VA. Although it was replaced many years ago by a more modern and much higher bridge, the old one is still there. It can't be driven across but many locals still use it to fish from.

  • Thank you very much! You're so kind. George Washington; Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson and others associated with the American Revolution and U.S. Civil War in this region were very familiar with the Shenandoah River, and no doubt crossed it somewhere in this vacinity. John, the gentleman in my video "Activity Report," spoke of his Father driving a Model T across this bridge. Thank you for watching. :)
