Clint does not play the worst person in the world in this film. Yes he hurls some insults but words are just words. That I think was one of the main points of the film. Being a bigot and talking down to people may make one an asshole but in the end he is a good man who faces his own demons and stands up for whats right. These Geezers clearly dont get the film. Oh My I hope I did not offend any old people by using the word Geezers. We have a right to say what we want to say in the USA.

I agree it's very common, my family are divvying up my grandparents possessions now that my grandmother has passed on ignoring the fact that my grandfather is still in the house, its rude and horrible. I have one book I wanted to borrow but since my grandfather is blind I may as well keep it. Otherwise I don't want anything. It feels like his house is being looted by people who should know better.

I LOVED this movie!!! Clint Eastwood is just amazing. Nuff said there. The story was touching n made a 18 yr old [macho man] shed a tear in the end...yeah, me! The Hmong actors were terrible [xept for the girl that playd Sue; she playd it VERY simplistically n realistically!] I wish Clint keeps making movies FOREVER! :]
Btw the theme song-- "Gran Torino" --deserved a shitloada awards! Beautifully sung, especially the film version where Clint gets behind the mic too!

Clint Eastwood & Jack Nicholson are the last real hollywood stars still standing. People go to see their movies because they're in it, like they did in the old days to see a Bogart, Cooper, Grant, Davis, Garbo etc. movies. Today the stars are the COMPUTER that won't last.

(cont.) If I had a family member like that I would not talk to them (and I thought my family was bad.) The Hmong boy earned the Gran Torino fair and square. The nauseating, ungrateful, little bitch did not deserve it. Of course Walt's offspring were a little to blame for their lack of parenting. I also did not like the character of that Irish, mick, actress who plays the role of Walt's daughter in law. I can't believe his family also treated Walt like someone who couldn't do things b/c of age.

Exactly! I saw the movie again recently and discovered some other things with Walt's nauseating grandchildren (especially the girl.) Asking someone when they are going to die so they can get their car? When I saw that scene, I was, like, ''what a little bitch.'' Also, the other two were snooping through Walt's personal stuff. They were also very disrespectful at the beginning at the funeral of their grandmother. Walt's family got what they deserved - NOTHING.

I agree. The family wasn't worth a damn. His grandchildren were assholes. I'll tell you, I only saw my grandfather 3 times. He was a drunk, a criminal and many other things. I still remember him fondly, however, and wish he'd lived around the block.

I like the thoughtfulness of Marcia's review. She's not just spewing out a reaction, this is what she thinks. I don't agree with her, I think the film goes much deeper, but I do like the fact that she talks about an image of the "american man" and how it is distorted, not by Mr. Eastwood, but in general.
Walt would say GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR who are these people.GET OFF MY LAWN!

Mr. Eastwood plays the role as I remember how my Dad and Uncle played their roles in life. They were both Vets of WWII and Korea. What they saw in the Wars colored their views for the rest of their lives. Mr. Eastwood plays those roles. The point was made that they depended on themselves to get it done. They made America the Great nation it was. They kept their word and saw it through to the end even if it would mean their lives. We could all learn a lesson from that generation. GGGRRRRRRRRRRR!
