Is there allot of things lost in translation from the greek new testament of the bible when ported to english? Been interested to learn ancient greek but this kind of stuff isn't my field of work so it wouldn't be useful for me to learn it.

@gilbert4321 hi. No, in my opinion not much is lost in the superb English translations. Only learn Ancient Greek if you have time and find it fun. The gospel message comes quite clearly through in English. ἔρρωσο, φίλε μου.

I speak modenr Greek. Will it be difficult for me to learn Ancient Greek?

@EffLabels χαῖρε. Your modern Greek will be very helpful in learning Ancient Greek, but it will still be tough. The Ancient Language has a lot of the same or similar vocabulary, but the forms and syntax are different. About like how Chaucer is to modern English. But it will be worth the effort. ἡ γὰρ παλαι γλῶσσα ἡ Ἑλληνικὴ καλή ἐστιν. ἔρρωσο.
