This is a really odd one. A commercial for introducing the advertising characters that doesn't mention the product at all. It makes me wonder if this started out as a demo reel for an unused Jay Ward series that was morphed into a product character. Again, I am only wondering about this. If not, this must have been a really hard sell to Quaker.
The late great Joe Flynn stars as King Vitaman

I have very faint memories of the animated King Vitamin. I KNEW he'd been animated at some point, but I just couldn't place it - all I can remember is that they'd made him a live action character by '73, & I didn't like it, although I still liked the cereal

Back when I was little we had food stamps and they gave this cereal to us free. Love it.

Looks like a corporate film to sell the ad campaign. I remember the ads that were based on it. KV yelled "King Vitamin is great with milk poured on!" and his guards all dumped milk on HIM. He'd shout, "Not ME, you ninnies, the CEREAL!"

I think it was intended as a marketing ploy to familliarize kids with the King Vitaman characters first and then introduce the cereal. The words "Quaker Oats Company" do pop up in the spot so I doubt it was intended to be a cartoon show that happened to morph into a cereal.

Odd yes, but funny as heck! They should have made a cartoon series out of this.
