Hi You Viewers ... This clip takes you into our end of the evening CHiP jam on ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER. The sound quality is compromised significantly by the fact that the hall is bouncing every signal everywhere. In spite of reasonably high volume on the vocal mike my voice disappears. As does most of the separation on the various instruments. We decided to run what is essentially a rehearsal session in Arbis Theater to have the space to put all eight of us pretty comfortably onstage. We didn't know what effect we'd get on the camera recording in the big hall ... and this is it. Lack of clarity. But, a lot of nice things were going on during the jam. Fred rips some of his flying guitar licks out at us at the start. Derrick gets a melodic and then a jazzed tenor sax solo in. Dan is tickling the keys. Ahmadu's congas are clicking all the way. Evgenij is into the rock on the six string acoustic. There is a period that I choose to just stand and dig the internal communication going on at the center of this negotiated vortex. You can see by the way Peter, Wilhard and I use both physical and audio communication to bring the piece to a close that it was not as chaotic onstage as the captured sound suggests. But we were definitely hearing a lot of bouncing back from the room onstage, too, so it did effect our interplay. ... Anyway, if you can back away from the relative hall distortion and sample the jam you might dig it. Also, the picture is decent. ... The rest of this 8 October CHiP session at Arbis will be landing at a dedicated channel: http://www.youtube.com/chip81011 . As always, big thanks to the folks at Youtube and Google for enabling free documentary dissemination of these event horizons.
