My father-in-law lives in Parksville, but I don't get out that often to see him. Have you had some luck out there?

Hi, You've picked great hobby, as far as a good metal detector goes I'd say $15 will not be that good! I use a Whites XLT older model but a great detector. You might find one for sale for around $500 or less. Fisher makes a good inexpensive detector called the Fisher 12x12... it all depends on what kind of hunting are you doing?
