More Tales of the City Part 1 | Chapter 1

Now just to soften the blow, when the series was picked up by showtime a couple years later, some of the characters were played by new actors. Dee Dee's Mother, Mouse, Mona, Dorthia and Brian are all new actors but don't worry, they are just good and it's easy to get back into the swing of the scene. The new mouse (Collin Furgison) is cute and ends up being very loveable, but nowhere near as cute as Marcus D'Amico. The new Mona is a lot different than the original, however, pulled off so well by Nina Siemaszko that it makes no difference. She has a much sassier attitude than the original, but her bite is so funny! (And yes, Parker Posey is still popping in here and there)

I like Michael's resolution number 17..."I will not cry when 'Mary Tyler Moore' goes off the air"...many of us did cry when Mary ended her seven year run in 1977...another television classic

@MrBooboo1974... They didn't exactly "walk away" - the second series was made 5 years later. Both were (and are) quite busy actors actually. D'Amico didn't have a problem playing a gay character (he's played some since) that is just a rumor.

Laura Linney seems to have come out of the gate an already superb actress.

This is a true soap opera, but sometimes a 'grand' opera at that.

I LOVE YOU SWOOSIE!! That is her real name. It's taken from WWII era plane. I remember her in "Garp" and follwed her career since then. She always wonderful.

Just to clear up any confusion-Paul Hopkins plays Michael "Mouse" Tolliver and Colin Ferguson plays Burke Andrew (Mary Ann's new beau)

Marcus D'Amico and Chloe Webb were utter arseholes to walk away from this series. It could have propelled their careers into the stratosphere as it did with Laura Linney's. What have they done since? Very little! It always pisses me off when people say thay prefer D'Amico and Webb over Paul Hopkins and Nina Siezsmasko-why?? D'Amico had a problem playing a gay character , so turned his back on his most famous role, and Webb was only interested in reprising Mona for money-not love and respect.
